Celebrating the 50th Jubilee of the Narrogin Australian Grand Prix in 1951, Narrogin Town Council, in association with the Vintage Sports Car Club of W.A. Inc., is to bring 'round the houses racing' back to the town in 2001. There will be a week long celebration of all forms of racing, culminating in a race of vintage racing cars around the houses. It is hoped some of the original cars and drivers from the 1951 event will return to give support.
People are expected to flock to the region from all around W.A. and Australia. The event will start on the weekend of November 17th-18th 2001 with the annual Rev-Heads Weekend. If you are a Revhead, a classic car enthusiast or just love a party, Revheads is The place to be!
Midweek events are provided to allow you and your family to spend a week soaking up the hospitality and living it up 'Country Style" in W.A.'s best inland town. Special sightseeing tours of local attractions are being laid on for the days and a range of parties for the evenings. Horse Racing (both Turf and Trotting) will staged during the week along with a casino evening.
Watch off-road action and then choose your evening venue when the following weekend starts Friday November the 23th with Trotting and a BMX event.
Saturday November the 24th features 1/4 mile Sprint Racing both of Classic Cars and also where anybody can bring their own car and have a go (subject to regulations), Speedway, a Street Parade, and a Hill Climb.
Sunday, the 25th, is the Narrogin Commemorative Jubilee Grand Prix which reinacts the 1951 Narrogin Australian Grand Prix with 'round the houses' racing returning to the streets of Narrogin.
