SUPPLEMENTARY REGULATIONS

CHAPTER 1 - STANDARD REQUIREMENTS

1) EVENT TITLE, DATE & VENUE

The event shall be known as the Narrogin ¼ Mile "come and try" Sprint to be held on Saturday 24th November 2001 on Earl Street, Narrogin.

2) ORGANISATION AND STATUS

(a) The event shall be held under the International Sporting Code of the Federation Internationale de I'automobile (FIA), the National Competition Rules of the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport Ltd (CAMS), the Speed Event Standing Regulations published by CAMS. These Supplementary Regulations and any further Regulations and instructions to entrants that may be issued.

(b) The event shall be Club Single Car Speed Event.

Warning Signage: The finish line will be clearly marked 'FINISH LINE SLOW NOW'.

Surface: Asphalt

Fire Tender: A fire tender shall be parked in the pit/assembly area.

  1. ENTRIES

    (i) Opening date: Monday 29th October 2001

    (ii) Closing date: Friday 23rd November 2001

    (iii) Entry fee – ¼ Mile "come and try" Sprint: $20.00 (incl. G.S.T.) per driver payable to the VSCC of WA.

    (iv) VSCC of WA Temporary Membership: $11.00 (incl. G.S.T.) per driver payable to the VSCC of WA.

(v) Entry lodgement address: Mr Raymond Shaw, 3 Fawk Corner, BALLAJURA WA 6066

(vi) Refunds: No monies will be refunded after the Monday prior to the event.

      (vii)Tax invoice: Contact Raymond Shaw on (08) 9249 6687 if you require a tax invoice.

    6)LICENCE REQUIREMENTS EXCEPT ¼ MILE "come and try" SPRINT

Competitors must hold the minimum of a CAMS Level 1 licence and be a member of a CAMS Western Australian

affiliated Car Club. Competitors may obtain a CAMS Level 2SE licence, however, this licence is only valid for

this event.

7)VEHICLES

Road Registered Vehicles and the fifth category cars compiling with J,K,L,Sa,Sb,Sc,M,Na,Nb,Nc, and O.

Additionally, the inclusion of other vehicles is permitted subject to agreement with Organisers.

8) PARENTAL CONSENT

If any entrant or driver is under 18 years of age the consent of his/her parent or guardian must appear on the Entry Form.

9) SCRUTINEERING

Schedule: Scrutineering will be held on Saturday at a time to be advised.

Venue: Pit/assembly area, Earl Street, Narrogin.

(a) All driver apparel (helmets, overalls, gloves etc.) must be presented for inspection and approval.

(b) Appropriate CAMS Competition licences and log book (if applicable) must be produced at scrutineering and on request during the meeting.

(c) No car may participate in any practice session unless it has passed a safety check by the Scrutineers.

(d) Any car which, after approval, is dismantled or modified in any way which might affect the safety of the vehicle or raises questions as to its eligibility,

or is involved in any accident having similar results, must be submitted for re-scrutineering approval.

(e) Any car or driver may be prohibited for practice or the regularity for safety reasons.

(f) The Clerk of Course may require any car involved in an accident to be stopped and checked during the event.

10) DRIVERS BRIEFING

A compulsory Drivers' Briefing for each group will be held in the pit/assembly area before the commencement of their runs. Any competitor failing to attend or arriving late at the Briefing should seek out the Clerk of Course who will consult with the Stewards to determine whether they are permitted to run and under what conditions, e.g. reduced number of runs.

11)START/NUMBER OF RUNS

(a) The Organising committee will group cars into appropriate categories at the closure of entries.

(b) The event will be conducted in groups. Each car will be allocated a group and a start time at scrutineering.

(c) A minimum of 3 runs shall be given to each competitor. Each competitor will be allotted 1 x red dot for a practice run, 3 x blue dots for confirmed runs and 1 x yellow dot for a discretionary run. Competitors whom are also volunteers shall have priority to compete in all instances.

(d) Each competitor must start within 60 seconds after they are given the green light or start (National) flag on the start line.

(e) Cars will run singularly in any order, within their allocated groups, as they form on the grid.

The onus is on each competitor to ensure that he/she has their allocated number of runs.

(f) There will be a timely procedure for vehicles to clear the runoff area before the next run commences.

12) AUTOMATIC TIMING

    The organisers utilise an electronic timing system. The event is a "Come and Try" Sprint and as such no times or results will e published for competitors with CAMS Level 1 licences.

13) INSURANCE

Combined Liability Insurance has been effected by the Promoters. All drivers and officials are covered by the Motor Sport Personal Accident Insurance Policy. For further details, see Appendix I of the 2001 CAMS Manual of Motor Sport (page 15-3).

Every entrant and driver before taking part in any competition shall sign the Disclaimers and Entrants Statement on the Entry Form.

14) PROTESTS

Any protest must be lodged in accordance with the Provisions of Part XII of the NCR's.

15) ABANDONMENT

The Organisers reserve the right to abandon the event in accordance with the Provisions of NCR 59.

16) ALCOHOL & SMOKING

The consumption of alcohol or drugs by drivers and crew is forbidden. Consumption of alcohol by any person in the Pit, paddock or any other non public area is forbidden until the conclusion of the event. Smoking in the Pit area is not permitted.

17) DETERMINATION OF WINNERS

The results will be determined by the fastest overall and class time of the day not including the practice run and ranked in ascending order of time. Where there is a tie for the fastest time, the next fastest time, and so on, shall be used as the tie-breaker.

18) APPAREL

Driver must wear:

(a) A helmet that complies with AS 1698 and carries marking to the effect, or one that is specifically approved by CAMS, also appropriately marked to that effect.

(b) Non flammable clothing, covering from ankles to wrist to throat.

(c) No person will be permitted to compete wearing apparel of nylon or similar material.

(d) Suitable closed toe footwear. No thongs, sandals or high heels will be permitted.

(e) In open cars goggles or visors with lens of other than glass (to AS 1609) must be worn.

19) SAFETY - CARS

The attention of competitors is drawn to Schedules A & B of the General Requirements for Automobiles found in Section Six (page 6-15) and the Standing Regulations for Speed Events in the CAMS Manual of Motor Sport (page 10-2).

All cars must:

(a) Be fitted with Seat Belts to AS E35 or of a type specifically approved by CAMS.

Cars not road registered (excluding Historic Cars) must:

(b) Have, on the external coachwork, a blue triangle of sides 150mm, which indicates the position of the battery; and

(c) Have a securely fitted fire extinguisher, which complies with AS 1841 (save that extinguishers which meet AS1841.2 are not permitted. The Chief Scrutineer will be paying special attention to mounting brackets for fire extinguishers. Metal brackets must be used to secure the fire extinguisher, which should be mounted with nuts/bolts in a suitable position and of a type and capacity as specified in Schedule H, (page 6-16) of the 2001 CAMS Manual of Motor Sport. The fitment of a CAMS approved 'on board' system is an acceptable alternative. Not required for ¼ Mile "come and try" Sprint.

(a) Be fitted with a scatter shield if required under the provision of Schedule M (page 6-34 2001 CAMS Manual of Motor Sport),

(b) Not be fitted with any steering column locking device,

(c) If not equipped with a suitable cross member then to be fitted with a strap that will prevent the tail shaft falling to the ground in the event of a component failure,

(d) Be fitted with crankcase breather/s discharging to atmosphere have fitted to such breather/s an oil trap container which must be empty at the start of competition, of a capacity of at least two litres for vehicles under 2000cc or three litres for vehicles over 2000cc.

The use of recapped or reconditioned tyres is forbidden. The Chief Scrutineer reserves the right to vary this requirement upon written application from an entrant and with approval of the Stewards.

Tubeless tyres must be fitted to optimum rim size only. Fuel must be 'Commercial Fuel' as defined by CAMS, Schedule G of Section Six of the 2001 CAMS Manual of Motor Sport (page 6-15). Roll bars are not compulsory in closed speed events, but are recommended.

20) COMPLIANCE WITH INSTRUCTIONS

Failure to follow the direction of any official will render a competitor liable to exclusion.

21) DRIVER CONDUCT

No burn outs or hand brake turns are allowed. The Clerk of Course reserves the right to exclude any driver contravening these requirements
