We spent an enjoyable, if somewhat packed, day in Kalgoorlie. First up was the obligatory visit to the statue of Paddy Hannan:

We read the
plaque to discover the anniversary of the day he discovered the gold is the
same as Steve's birthday.
Kalgoorlie, like South Perth, is full of Jacaranda trees. Kenn returned to Kalgoorlie
a fortnight later and took these photographs.
Next we went to the Mining
Museum and took some photos from the top of the head-stocks.
The rectangular building in the centre is the hotel.
And again....
The KCGM slag
heap is in the background.

On the road
in the middle of the picture you can see a 3-tanker road-train.
We then went on a guided tour of the area called the Golden
Mile to Golden Feather Tour
This was a very
interesting tour and included a trip round the old Kanowna Belle graveyard and
the active minesite.
We had a trip up the towns water tank which is fed by the Perth - Kalgoorlie
pipeline:
We also featured a trip out to see KCGM' s Superpit.
See the moving 180 degree panorama.
