During the holiday, Alistair, Kennz workmate had to drive to Kalgoorlie to see customers. This he did in his new Mitsubishi Magna wagon. After a couple of hours driving the Magna decides it is time you stop and drink coffee. It alerts you of this fact by illuminating an icon of a steaming coffee cup on the dashboard and sounding an alarm. It is a six hour drive to Kal from Perth - 650 kms.
Alistair rang us while we were driving to tell us this coffee alarm had come on.
He rang to say it was still on.
He rang to say it was still on and becoming more insistent and he couldn't find how to turn it off.
He rang to say he'd pulled over to a stop in the middle of nowhere and turned the ignition off. When he restarted the alarm was off.
Two hours later he rang to say it was back on again.............
And so it went on, this provided much hilarity and promises to attack it with wire cutters when he got back. EVERYWHERE we drive to is more than 2 hours away, this is Western Australia!
Mitsubishi finally told how Alistair how to turn it off in March 2004!
UPDATE: March 2007
Alistair rang to say the bloody coffee alarm was on again. In a recent service, Mitsubishi had replaced the battery, this had obviously reset the coffee alarm - much to his annoyance.
