Chalkie was our first dog - bought when we'd been married about
6 months. A West Highland White Terrier. She used to ride around the country
side on Joans knee on the back of their Vespa
scooter. She welcomed the advent of the 2 children as they arrived and was much
loved by us all. Diabetes claimed her as she got older and Joan had to obtain
urine samples by thrusting a shallow pan under her when doing her first 'wee'
of the day. She came to accept it all as just part of life. She had puppies
twice - once a planned pregnancy and once an accident. This latter time produced
one puppy - named Fling, as it was a West Highland Mels
parents adopted him.
